La Biodiversidad biológica implica una gran responsabilidad para el ser humano, y somos quienes debemos cuidar para que no se pierda, pero a veces no está en nuestras manos protegerla, esto debido a que se presenta la pandemia del Covid-19 y el plantel tuvo que ser abandonado. Las plantas existentes en dicho plantel se secaron o están por perderse, así mismo como los animales silvestres de la región; actualmente estamos en semáforo verde y ya se pueden cuidar las plantas regándolas (...) constantemente. Para el cuidado de la biodiversidad es necesario que toda la comunidad tanto del Municipio como los que estamos involucrados en el plantel CECYTEM Valle de Chalco Solidaridad unamos esfuerzos para preservar tanto a plantas como a animales, y que si se llegará a presentar un rebrote de la pandemia formar comisiones para el cuidado de dicha biodiversidad. This is a descriptive qualitative study using phenomenological approach involving 46 nurses working in hospitals that cater to COVID-19 patients. This was conducted in April 2020. Results show that the challenges of nurses during the tour of duty in COVID-19 wards includes physical, procedural, psychological and protection. Likewise, nurses uncovered some difficulty with regard to the following experiences: struggle to be in complete PPE and with lack of PPE, not always being able to provide timely care, increased workload, nursing care (...) limitations, their risk to safety and having anxiety. This most often leads to some opportunities that bridges the gap towards achievement of their personal development and professional growth, as such, nurses became more compassionate, confident, resilient and resourceful, altruistic, and develop a stronger faith in God. Their leadership skills were also enhanced as they learned new knowledge and developed skills through education, trainings and experience. All the challenges and difficulties became avenue for the nurses to be able to unleash their potentials and further develop them into a God fearing and humane health care providers. Furthermore, the nurses being in the forefront of health care should be given assurance of safety and protection. Likewise, the nurse should closely adhere to standard protocol designed for COVID-19 infection control. It is thus recommended that there should be effective communication system to address issues and resolve conflicts. Lastly, emotional support and positive feedback should be given to nurses during the critical situations in the ward and collaborative working environment should be established all the time. O sentido do termo eleuthería, similarmente a muitos outros conceitos na obra de Platão, não é unívoco. Mesmo se nos restringirmos ao diálogo República, encontraremos nele uma ampla gama de concepções que vão desde a acepção popular de ‘dizer e fazer o que se quer’, até a significação, mais propriamente filosófica do termo; vale dizer também daquela que envolve uma dimensão psicológica e moral, na qual o homem deve buscar agir de acordo consigo mesmo. Esta atividade ética, que Platão (2006) (...) (seguir o modelo de citação indireta) insiste em chamar de política (Rep. IX, 592 a5 – a9), baseada no “cuidado de si” tornar-se-á uma pré-condição que prepara o homem para a vida junto aos outros homens e para outras ações derivadas, como o governo da pólis, a produção de leis e, também, para as atividades investigativas, tais como o diálogo e a dialética. Encontramos, pois, naquele diálogo, um verdadeiro embate entre algumas concepções rivais de eleuthería, por exemplo: Trasímaco acredita que o tirano é o mais livre dos homens (Rep. I, 344 a) enquanto Sócrates, ao final do diálogo, defende que o tirano jamais experimentou a liberdade (Rep. IX, 577 a). Assim, este artigo se propõe, então, investigar e circunscrever, a partir do exame da República, os sentidos da eleuthería, fixando a atenção no seu significado propriamente filosófico. (shrink)

Der Beitrag untersucht die geschichtliche Entwicklung in ehemaligen Kolonialstaaten nach dem Rückzug der Kolonialmächte. Er unternimmt diese Untersuchung im Ausgang von Hegels Begriff der Sittlichkeit. Mittels dieses Konzepts entwickelt der Autor ein Modell des historischen Prozesses, der durch den Widerstreit zwischen den Ansprüchen der einzelnen Gemeinschaften und denen des Nationalstaats bestimmt ist. Anschließend prüft er dieses Modell unter Rückgriff auf tatsächliche Entwicklungen, etwa in Südamerika.

Gender scholars use the metaphor of the “glass escalator” to describe a tendency for men in women-dominated workplaces to be promoted into supervisory positions. More recently, scholars, including the metaphor’s original author, critique the glass escalator metaphor for not addressing the intersections of gender with other relevant identities or the ways that work has changed in the twenty-first century. I apply an intersectional lens to understand how gender and race shape women’s career paths in tech work, where twenty-first century changes (...) to the organization of workplaces are common. I build on theories of raced and gendered labor and the glass escalator to make sense of women’s careers in a contemporary field dominated by men. I find some evidence that white women, but not women of color, experience something similar to a “glass escalator” where they are promoted into management, but those promotions are a smaller step up—more step stool than escalator. These promotions move women out of technical positions and towards business and management, releasing engineering teams from the pressure to fully incorporate women. (shrink)

RESUMEN Contra el esencialismo de las concepciones de la justicia social como desarrollo, se sostiene que los bienes se configuran siempre en relaciones recíprocas, nunca de manera objetiva e impersonal. El núcleo deontológico de la moral reside en la crítica de las formas de actuary reposa en una ontología natural, mientras que el amplio conjunto de creencias normativas que llamamos ética se basa en la crítica de los bienes y presupone una ontología dialéctica. Revelar que toda cosa buena es ambivalente, (...) es la forma ética -y antigua- de reflexión práctica. La formación de bienes, fines y valores razonables acontece en el terreno de los intercambios recíprocos. ABSTRACT Against the essentialism of the conceptions of social justice as development, the article argues that goods are always shaped by reciprocal relations and never in an objective and impersonal manner. The deontological core of morality resides in the critique of the ways of acting grounded in a natural ontology, while the broad set of normative beliefs that we call ethics is based on the critique of goods and presupposes a dialectical ontology. Revealing that any good thing is ambivalent is the ethical -and ancient- form of practical reflection. The formation of reasonable goods, ends, and values takes place in the field of reciprocal interchange. (shrink)

El cuidado suele mostrar una distribución desigual, donde estas responsabilidades recaen comúnmente en los hogares y, específicamente, en las mujeres. En este texto abordaré tres problemas del cuidado si no se aborda desde una perspectiva feminista.6 En primer lugar, analizaré la trampa de esencializar a las mujeres en las tareas de cuidado y, con esto, reproducir el orden heteronormado. Una segunda trampa radica en considerar el cuidado como el único valor fundamental porque, si así fuera, ¿qué pasa, entonces, con la (...) justicia? Nos podríamos preguntar, como cuestiona Virginia Held, «¿el cuidado y la justicia son maneras alternativas e incompatibles de entender las mismas situaciones morales y políticas, y si es así, cuál nos debería guiar?» (1995, 1). Considerar que el cuidado está por sobre la justicia, por ejemplo, nos trae nuevos dilemas tanto en el ámbito privado como en el ámbito público. Finalmente, analizaré la trampa de considerar que estaría bien cuidar pero solamente a cercanos o a quienes consideramos que son como nosotros. Una moralidad y una política que limita el cuidado a un grupo específico de personas conlleva la peligrosa idea de que hay otro grupo de la población que no merece nuestra atención y cuidado. La creación de un espacio europeo de libertad, seguridad y justicia en el ámbito civil ha recibido un impulso decisivo con el Tratado de Amsterdam, pero no se trata de una materia absolutamente nueva. En efecto, el art. 220 TCE en su versión original de 1958 dispone que los Estados miembros «entablarán en tanto sea necesario, negociaciones entre sí a fin de asegurar a favor de sus nacionales», entre otras cosas, para «la simplificación de las formalidades a que están sometidos (...) el reconocimiento y la ejecución recíprocos de las decisiones judiciales y de los laudos arbitrales». Mediante la construcción de un dispositivo estético-sonoro que reproduce, en espacios públicos, los primeros llantos de recién nacidos, la obra Música (Todo lo que sé lo aprendí el día que nació mi hijo) de Alfredo Jaar pone a las audiencias y a la comunidad ante una vivencia íntima, institucionalmente privada, que irrumpe en el espacio social y cultural compartido. Postulamos que el análisis de esta obra permite reflexionar sobre uno de los temas éticos y políticos más discutidos en la actualidad: (...) el cuidado como disposición ética humana. Dado que la ética del cuidado implica la interrupción de la idea tradicional del valor en tanto basado en principios universales, esta obra de Jaar, especialmente en su dimensión propiamente estética, sugiere una problematización de este orden tradicional. Contra el enfoque de algunas posturas filosóficas que entienden al cuidado como una disposición ética intersubjetiva que no antepone necesariamente una estructura de obligación, en este artículo nos proponemos mostrar que Música ofrece insumos relevantes para problematizar y conceptualizar el “cuidado” como una obligación ética que tiene un impacto directo en el ordenamiento social, institucional y político de las comunidades humanas. This paper examines the role that population vulnerabilities play in insurance coverage for a representative sample of Latinos and Asians in the United States. Using data from the National Latino and Asian American Study (NLAAS), these analyses compare coverage differences among and within ethnic subgroups, across states and regions, among types of occupations, and among those with or without English language proficiency. Extensive differences exist in coverage between Latinos and Asians, with Latinos more likely to be uninsured. Potential explanations include (...) the type of occupations available to Latinos and Asians, reforms in immigration laws, length of time in the United States, and regional differences in safety-net coverage. El envejecimiento de la población mundial, las políticas neoliberales, y más recientemente eventos como la pandemia producto del COVID 19, han contribuido a visibilizar lo frágil y vulnerable que es la vida y, la cantidad de cuidados que se requieren para sostenerla. En este libro dialogan variadas reflexiones sobre los cuidados desde distintas disciplinas: filosóficas, jurídicas, políticas, así como de diversas perspectivas que están estrechamente vinculadas con la práctica concreta -cuidadoras, profesionales de la salud pública, movimientos sociales y feministas-, reflexiones (...) que analizan cómo el cuidado es entendido, estudiado y practicado en los debates contemporáneos. De este modo, se despliegan diversas voces y perspectivas sobre los nudos feministas actuales en torno a los cuidados. Como trabajo y como ética, desde enfoques como la teoría de la reproducción social, la ética de los cuidados, los derechos humanos y las experiencias situadas, las autoras indagan en la relación entre democracia e interdepen-dencia, tensionando los relatos (neo)liberales sobre el individualismo, en el contexto de la discusión constituyente de 2022. Es así como se interroga la naturalización de los cuidados como labor inherente a los cuerpos femeninos y feminizados, así como, la dicotomía entre esfera pública y privada, desde diversas disciplinas, marcos teóricos y relatos sobre el cuidar y ser cuidadas/os. In this paper we examine the weaknesses of development strategies which have been applied in Puerto Rico. The process of industrialization by invitation, referred to as Operation Bootstrap, was instituted by the United States of America by the end of the 1940s. This involved tax incentives and subsidies for companies and was dependent on industrial peace and low wages in labor-intensive, low-wage industries, especially those of textile and clothing. Naturally, women's labor was encouraged as a result of the lower cost, (...) as well as assumed dexterity, of the female in such areas. While these new activity areas for women also allowed other benefits in the form of legislation and increased social services, the inherent problems of rapid, labor-intensive industrialization also led to displacement and increased underemployment and impoverization of female headed families from the 1960s onwards. The paper explores some of the changes in gender relations which resulted from these policies and looks at the challenges which the feminist movement in Puerto Rico has made, particularly with regard to state processes to bring about beneficial changes in the economic, legal, political and social status of women in Puerto Rico. RESUMEN La filósofa irlandesa Iris Murdoch propone una teoría moral basada en el amor. Esta "ética del amor" se constituye a partir de la atención amorosa y la imaginación. De acuerdo con Murdoch, teorías morales como la kantiana presentan importantes problemas al considerar la moralidad como un asunto de "algoritmos morales". Las éticas dominantes desde la modernidad hasta nuestros días se han centrado en la universalidad, la imparcialidad, los principios morales, etcétera. Murdoch apunta a que la moralidad tiene que ver, (...) más bien, con nuestra capacidad de responder a otros individuos particulares, particularidad que no es reducible a ninguna forma de universalidad o imparcialidad compleja. ABSTRACT The Irish philosopher Iris Murdoch proposes a moral theory based on love. This "ethics of love" is constituted by loving attention and imagination. According to Murdoch, moral theories such as the Kantian one present important problems as they consider morality a matter of "moral algorithms". Dominant ethics from modernity until today have focused on universality, impartiality, moral principles, and so on. Murdoch points out that morality has to do, rather, with our ability to respond to other particular individuals, a particularity that is not reducible to any form of universality or complex impartiality. This article aims to present that moral particularism is a viable alternative to the dominant ethics of modernity to the present (i.e., Kantian and utilitarian ethics); theories that have been criticized during the last decades, especially, by the requirement of moral impartiality. The agent in these ethics deliberates impartially due to the universalism of moral principles. I will suggest that moral particularism, insofar as it excludes impartiality as a relevant factor in the agents' deliberations, presents reasons to be a plausible (...) ethics. (shrink)

The objective of this article is to assess the impact of generative artificial intelligence (AGI) as a learning tool in clinical practice, as perceived by clinical students of human medicine. To this end, six learning activities were devised and executed, employing diverse pedagogical approaches and AGI tools, with the objective of addressing various facets of clinical practice. These included the creation of explanatory material, literature analysis, the selection of clinical cases for publication, the development of self-assessment questions, the production of (...) explanatory videos, and the creation of scientific posters. These activities were conducted during the clinical internships of the fifth year of the medical curriculum and were evaluated using both quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings indicated that the incorporation of GAI as a pedagogical instrument in the clinical training of medical students yielded a favorable influence on their motivation, self-assurance, satisfaction, competencies, and knowledge. The students identified GAI as a novel, applicable, useful, and transferable tool and expressed interest in continuing to use it in the future. However, the results also indicated that students encountered certain challenges and difficulties in utilizing GAI as a learning tool, including overconfidence, resistance, and a lack of understanding. In conclusion, this study provides empirical evidence on the use of GAI as a learning tool for undergraduate medical students' clinical practices, and contributes to the knowledge base regarding the possibilities and challenges of GAI application in higher education. Se postula aquí que en la narrativa breve de Borges no sólo se manifiesta una reacción post-humanista contra el antropocentrismo imperante en la modernidad. También aparecen destellos poderosos de un trans-humanismo en virtud del cual se piensa en la inmortalidad y en la ampliación de las facultades cognitivas y espirituales de los seres humanos de un modo sumamente original porque excluye la necesidad (...) de los avances tecnológicos más sorprendentes. It is only within the human world of culture and as a member of a community of persons that the individual can realize his native potentialities and become a person. As a member of this community he must learn to play many roles. Some he plays successively as he passes through the stages of his life; others he plays alternately or simultaneously. The playing of each calls for the exercise of special abilities and powers. It makes use of only a (...) part of the native resources of his individual endowment. An individual may be better fitted by nature to play one role than another. But in the playing of any, he undergoes a specialized development which may help or hinder the development essential to the playing of others. Roles differ widely in the demands they make and the opportunities they offer for the exercise of native powers and the realization of capacities for intelligence and feeling. But however great may be the demands it makes or the opportunities it provides, no role is exhaustive of all that a person has the potentiality for becoming or of what he has become as the person he is.
